Food friday! Simple recipes and cooking hacks.

So some of my followers on Facebook have asked me to do some cooking tutorials of some simple recipes. Ask and you shall receive!!

What I thought I would do though is to combine something I've seen before on YouTube with some cooking hacks in the style of a cooking tutorial. I've seen some YouTubers do a 'What I ate' sort of video where they will talk about the things they have eaten today. Well we never see them cook it so I thought I would show you what I ate today and how I have made it PLUS I give you some real cool cooking hacks to make things easier in the kitchen. So lets get cookin'!

So I never used to have breakfast (very unhealthy!). I never felt like eating, so I thought how about I have a smoothie for breakfast? So I bought some smoothies but they didn't really do the trick. I then bought my Kenwood smoothie 2 go and I love it! I usually have a smoothie now for breakfast but it also helped me to eat something for breakfast every day. Sometimes I'll have toast, or porridge but usually its this smoothie.

I decided that conventional smoothie recipes were not containing the nutrients or filling ingredients I needed. So I made my own that is filling, full of fibre, full of antioxidants and just tastes so good! It has only three ingredients but you can add more depending on your tastes and what you want from your breakfast.

Ingredients for one person:
Main ingredients:
1 banana
A quarter of a cup oats
1 and a half cups of milk

Optional ingredients:
1 teaspoon of honey
Half a cup of blueberries
Half a cup of black grapes

Kenwood smoothie 2 go

Cut the banana into smaller chunks. Add the banana and other fruit to the smoothie jug. Add the milk, oats and honey, in that order, to the jug. Place the blades on top of the jug and turn upside down. Then put on the low setting for two minutes. Remove jug from smoothie maker and shake. Put the jug back on the smoothie maker and put on the low setting for another two minutes. Remove jug from smoothie maker, remove blades and enjoy!

For lunch I was home all by my lonesome because my husband Dave was at work. I decided to make some Pasta Parmigiano or cheesy pasta. This is such a simple recipe and it is just so yummy!

Ingredients for one person:
Main ingredients:
3 tablespoons cream cheese
Half a cup of hard cheese flakes or shavings

Optional ingredients:
2 teaspoons oil
1 teaspoon dried chives
Half a teaspoon dried sage
Half a teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper

a saucepan
a wooden spoon or spatula
a kettle (optional)

Cook pasta and drain off water. Add half the oil if desired and stir. Add the cream cheese over a low heat until fully incorporated. Then add remainder of optional ingredients if desired and stir. Finally over the low heat add the hard cheese flakes or shavings and stir constantly until fully melted. Ensure that the cheese does not burn by taking off the heat when it makes a sizzling noise.

So for dinner I feel bad because I was going to show you a new recipe but I was so tired from the day that I decided to cheat and do a fajita dinner kit. If you don't know what that is its were everything is supplied, apart from the meat and vegetables, to make some fajitas in one little box. It's quite clever really!

Fajita dinner kit
300g of boneless meat
1 large onion
1 pepper

wok or frying pan
wooden spoon or spatula
chopping board and knife

Recipe is on the box but you can also watch the video.
